WhatsApp reportedly intends to add animation to all heart emojis in different colors for Android and iOS. This could be related to the message reaction function the platform would be working on. The functionality has already been added to WhatsApp Web / Desktop via a stable update. The news comes days after the Meta-owned instant messaging app was working on two new visual indicators on its call and status screen on the iOS version to educate users on end-to-end encryption.
According to a report By WhatsApp WABetaInfo tracker features, developers are working to bring animation to all heart emojis on the app. Currently, the red heart emoji has a beating animation on all platforms. With the latest development, it looks like all available colorful heart emojis will get the beating animation.
While WABetaInfo shared a screenshot of the heart animation on WhatsApp for iOS, it indicates that WhatsApp also plans to release the same feature on WhatsApp for Android. It is currently under development and will be released in a future update for beta testers, WABetaInfo said.
The functionality could be part of the reaction to messages functionality that was spotted earlier. WhatsApp is rumored to allow users to react to a specific message in a chat with specific emojis. There is also a Reaction Info tab to show who reacted to a message. Reactions to messages would be deployed to individual threads and group threads.
Recently, a report from WABetaInfo said that WhatsApp is working on two new visual indicators in Call and Status to educate users on end-to-end encryption. The feature has been spotted on the iOS version of WhatsApp, and it’s unclear whether or not it will roll out to Android users. The purpose of this feature is to inform users that in addition to messages, their personal calls and status are also protected by end-to-end encryption.
