Viva Kids has acquired the United States distribution rights for Argonuts, the latest CG animated feature from TAT Productions based in Toulouse, France. Title Pattie and the Wrath of Poseidon in French (Pattie and the Wrath of Poseidon), the film is a family adventure set in the magical but hostile world of Greek mythology. Kinology handles global sales.
Argonuts follows a super-smart and adventurous young mouse named Pattie and her feline companion, Sam, who are drawn into an adventure with legendary hero Jason and his Argonauts as they battle the most bizarre and dangerous creatures out of myth and rescue their thriving port city of Poseidon itself.
The film is led by The Jungle Group director David Alaux and producer Jean-François Tosti, who both co-founded TAT Productions with writer Éric Tosti in 2000. Argonuts premiered at the Cinémed festival in Montpellier in October and is due to open in France on January 25.
Viva Kids previously distributed TATs Willy Land (2020) and The Adventures of Pil (2022), the latter of which grossed $6.8 million worldwide and was the top-performing French film overseas last year. According to the TA, Argonuts marks its most ambitious production to date. You can check out a behind-the-scenes video recently released by Region Occitanie below.
Argonuts joins a busy theatrical lineup for Viva Kids, which brings The Incredible Mauritius in US theaters in January, followed by dragon keeper, zombie town and the recently announced sequel 200% Wolf.
