Snowpiercer Season 4 canceled at TNT


Fans of the post-apocalyptic series will be disappointed to hear that following filming for Season 4, which is currently underway, the dystopian thriller snowdrops will not return with more episodes, according to Deadline. The series centers on a group of the last humans on Earth seven years after an apocalyptic event that froze the world. The last remaining humans stay alive in a giant moving train that never stops.

snowdropsThe cancellation of is definitely a surprise, especially after the major events of the Season 3 finale seemingly promised the storyline was heading into bold new territory in the seasons to come. The series’ cancellation follows the merger between Discovery and TNT’s parent company WarnerMedia, which will completely overhaul Warner Bros.’ business models. and will likely lead to the cancellation of other projects in the near future. The film received critical acclaim with praise directed towards the performances of Chris Evans (The Avengers) and Tilda Swinton (strange doctor). The critical success of the film will lead to the development of a television series on TNT which will serve as a reboot of the story.

After years of development hell, the first season of the series premiered on TNT in 2020 and continued for three more seasons until its recent cancellation. So far, the show’s first three seasons have received a moderately positive response from critics, with some praising it for its ambition and style while claiming it falls short of the subversiveness of the film. The series has an aggregate review rating of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience reception of 67%. Despite the show being canceled, fans have at least one more season to look forward to in the near future.

The first three seasons of snowdrops are now available to watch on TNT. Season 4 does not yet have a set release date.
