‘Sierra’ Wins Two Awards at Turku Animation Film Festival | New


“Sierra” is about a boy who becomes a tire during an amateur rally. The film, which premiered earlier this year, has already won around 20 awards at various festivals.

The animation has already received the Arte Short Film Award at Filmfest Dresden, won the Audience Award at GLAS Animation, the Main Prize at Prime the Animation in Valencia, as well as awards at Animatricks and Animafest Cyprus. “Sierra” also won awards qualifying it for a San Francisco Oscar and the Palm Springs ShortFest.

It is possible to see the film in Estonia at the Sõprus cinema on September 1 and 8. A special screening will take place at the Sõpruse Kai Hall in Noblessner on September 1 in which “Sierra” will be performed four times in a row.

“Sierra” was directed and written by Sander Joon who is also the lead animation artist. The producers are Aurelia Aasa (AAA Creative) and Erik Heinsalu (BOP! Animation). The soundtrack is by Misha Panfilov, with Matis Rei as sound director. Animations were made by Henri Kaido Veermäe, Valya Paneva, Teresa Baroet and Sander Joon, backgrounds by Hleb Kuftseryn.
