Lucifer’s co-showrunner Joe Henderson reveals that the animated season 6 episode was worked on by the team behind HBO Max’s Harley Quinn series.
The sixth and final season of Netflix Lucifer should feature an animated episode titled “Yabba Dabba Do Me”. In order to make this unconventional chapter of its final release a reality, the evil crime drama brought in crew members from an entirely different DC Comics adaptation: HBO Max’s. Harley quinn.
In an interview with Collider, Lucifer co-showrunner Joe Henderson revealed that Harley quinn supervising producer Jennifer Coyle and a team of animators from the series stepped in to manage the animation of “Yabba Dabba Do Me”. Written by Henderson and directed by Nathan Hope, the animated adventure will serve as Lucifer Third episode of season 6.
Henderson explained that an animated episode of Lucifer is something he “always wanted to do”, but never thought it could be a real possibility. That is, of course, until the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) hits. âI just didn’t think I would make it, because it’s such a business,â he said. âBut it was COVID and we were looking for ways to have fewer days on set. And so the problem became an opportunity, because I have secretly wanted to do it for years.â
Regarding the Harley quinn team involvement, Henderson added, âWe were very lucky because we had this incredibly lucky window of time where you have these animators who can bring so much humanity to cartoons. so just this wonderful confluence. âWhile Henderson hasn’t revealed how or why Lucifer Morningstar and Chloe Decker end up becoming cartoons, he assures that the rationale is somethingâ that’s organic to our show, similar to this. than [co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich] had to find in his musical episode. “
Based on the DC / Vertigo Comics character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for the Sand seller universe, Lucifer premiered on Fox in 2016. Fox canceled the show after three seasons. Netflix then picked it up for Season 4, which premiered in 2019. Season 5A arrived in 2020, with Season 5B following suit earlier this year. Lucifer Season 5 was initially announced as the last of the series, although the series was eventually renewed for Season 6, which is scheduled to air next month.
During this time, Harley quinn Originally premiered on the DC Universe streaming service in November 2019, with Season 2 following suit in April 2020. Amid the restructuring of DC Universe, both seasons were added to HBO Max in August 2020. The The following month, it was announced that the adult animated series would return for a third season exclusively on HBO Max. Harley quinn Season 3 is expected to arrive on the platform either at the end of this year or early next year, but currently does not have an official premiere date. That being said, Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Snap! To kill. To visit – a limited comic book series set between the events of seasons 2 and 3 – is currently underway in DC.
The 10 episodes of Lucifer Season 6 arrived on Netflix on September 10.
