The story follows college student Kazuya Souma, who is summoned to an alternate world to be the hero. Instead, he highlights the economic problems of the kingdom he was summoned to. Episode 3 of “How a Realistic Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom”, titled “If You Become a Vassal, Don’t Be a Faithful Vassal,” is scheduled for release. July 17, 2021, on Tokyo MX and BS11. The first season has 13 episodes. JCStaff produced the series with Takashi Watanabe leading the production team and Gou Zappa and Hiroshi Oonogi leading the writing team. Akiyuki Tateyama worked on the music, while Mai Ootsuka took care of the character design. Inori Minase sang the opening theme song, “HELLO HORIZON”, and Aimi sang the ending theme song, “Kazanear”.

In Episode 2, Kazuya notes that this alternate world is scientifically backward and uses magical and fantastic beasts to undo the flaws. He learns that he now has magical powers, which he uses to make his work more efficient. Liscia walks into his office one day to find him buried in his work with several employees. Soon he ties it up as well and they spend the night trying to find money to support the country’s economy. The next morning, Kazuya takes Liscia to a cotton field. Cotton was Elfrieden’s biggest export. Cash cultivation was so lucrative that people stopped growing food and started growing cotton. And when the price of cotton collapsed, it not only caused an economic disaster in the country, but also led to food shortages.
Kazuya reveals that he has a broad plan to deal with the food shortage. As Liscia realizes, Kazuya wants her to learn all of this because one day he will be gone, and she has to rule the country. Later, Kazuya follows the example set by Cao Cao, the legendary Grand Chancellor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and calls on anyone who thinks he is better at one thing than everyone else to help him save the kingdom. His message is transmitted to all Elfrieden via a magical device called Gemstone Broadcast. In episode 3, Kazuya can select 5 people from among those who answer his call. Elsewhere, problems could start to arise as some military leaders plan a coup.
