Hayden Christensen loved doing the Star Wars prequels

Hayden Christensen has positive remarks regarding his time playing Anakin Skywalker in the star wars prequels.

In an interview with Total Film, Christensen explained how much he loved portraying the tragic character in the early 2000s. “The experience of doing the prequels was phenomenal,” the actor said. “I mean, working with George Lucas and playing that character, I couldn’t have asked for more. I didn’t want it to end. It was a sad thing when it ended. At the time, I thought that was it. I thought George had told his story, and my journey with the character was over. After all these years, to come back and continue my journey with this character, this is such a cool and extremely meaningful tome. .”

As George Lucas continued Anakin’s journey with Star Wars: The Clone Warsan animated series set between the events of Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Christensen was not brought back to voice the character. Matt Lanter instead voiced Anakin over the show’s seven seasons, between 2008 and 2020. Lanter later reprized the role in Star Wars: Rebels and expressed interest in voicing Darth Vader in a future star wars animated project.

Christensen will finally make his big comeback to the star wars universe in Obi Wan Kenobia live-action Disney+ series set roughly 10 years later Revenge of the Sithinasmuch as clone wars-era Anakin Skywalker and a post-Episode III Dark Vador. The actor revealed in April 2022 that he “went back and rewatched all the movies” and “also got into the animated shows, The Clone Wars and rebelsto prepare for the role. He continued, “It was interesting. They’ve done a lot with those characters on those shows. And they explored the relationship further. There were some interesting things to learn there. It was a lot of fun to go back and immerse yourself in this world that just keeps growing and getting bigger and bigger.”

Obi Wan Kenobi also offered Christensen a chance to fully portray Darth Vader after only dressing up as the popular star wars antagonist in the last moments of Episode III. “Well, without going into too much detail, it was amazing. It’s a great honor to be able to put on this costume,” Christensen revealed. “It was mostly really exciting because I had spent enough time with this character and felt like I knew him, and coming back to him was very natural in a lot of ways. And I was really excited to be able to to come in and play Darth Vader at this point in the timeline because it felt like a natural continuation of your journey with the character, and that was very meaningful to me.

In addition to Christensen, Obi Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi Master alongside a supporting cast that includes Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Moses Ingram, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend and Sung Kang. The first two episodes of the upcoming Disney+ limited series premiere May 27 on Disney+.
