EarthSpark releases a new cyborg villain, Mandroid


Paramount+ just gave fans their first look Transformers: EarthSparkMandroid’s villain, in action in the upcoming animated series.


The streaming service spotlighted the half-human/half-android Mandroid cyborg in a recent promotional video shared on YouTube. The video establishes that Mandroid is the Terran Transformers nickname for Dr. Meridian, a brilliant roboticist determined to rid Earth of all Cybertronians, whom he considers an “invasive species”. Meridian’s cybernetic enhancements are also briefly touched on in the video, as is his distaste for the “Mandroid” moniker. Mandroid is voiced by Diedrich Bader, who previously starred in an episode of Transformers: rescue robots.

Nickelodeon first announced Transformers: EarthSpark in February 2022, however, the animated series later moved to Paramount+. Transformers: EarthSpark takes place in the aftermath of a civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons, from the ashes of which emerges a new race of Transformers called Terrans. Robby Malto (Sydney Mikayla), 13, and his sister Mo (Zion Broadnax), 9, quickly befriend the Earthlings, even adopting two of them, Twitch (Kathreen Khavari) and Thrash (Zeno Robinson ), as part of their family. In addition to the Mandroid projects, Robby, Mo, Twitch, and Thrash will have to face off against fan-favorite villain Megatron, hosted by game of thrones veteran Rory McCann.


Transformers: EarthSpark Brings Back Fan-Favorite Autobots

Transformers: EarthSpark is also confirmed to feature several of the franchise’s most iconic heroes, including Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. Foreign resident star Alan Tudyk will voice Optimus, marking his second foray into the world of Transformershaving previously starred in a supporting role in a 2011 live-action film Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. Meanwhile, Bumblebee’s voice will be offered by mythical quest‘s Danny Pudi, succeeding Autobot’s newest performer, Joe Zieja, who played the role in the 2020s Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy. Other familiar faces locked up for Transformers: EarthSpark include Wheeljack, Arcee, Skullcruncher, Swindle, and Soundwave, though no actors are officially attached to those roles at this point.

Transformers: EarthSpark is part of Paramount’s ongoing efforts to bolster the franchise’s presence on the big and small screens. In February 2022, the studio announced the next film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is actually the first installment in a trilogy of films based on the popular Beast Wars toyline and related media. Paramount has also confirmed that an animated film Transformers The feature film is currently in the works and is expected to hit cinemas in 2024.
