Danny Phantom Creator reacts to introduction of 3D CGI remake of fan-made show

Danny Phantom creator Butch Hartman reacts to a TikTok user’s 3D and CGI recreation of the iconic and nostalgic introduction to the Nickelodeon show.

The creator of the beloved Nickelodeon series Danny Phantom reacted to a fan-made 3D remake of the show’s intro. The animated series was created by Butch Hartman and originally aired from 2004 to 2007. Although it only lasted three seasons, many fans consider it to be one of the best Nickelodeon shows of all time.

The story of Danny Phantom focuses on a teenage boy named Danny Fenton, who is voiced by David Kaufman. Danny develops superpowers after an accident in his ghost hunter parents’ lab when a ghost portal turns him into a human / ghost hybrid. Despite his initial hesitation, Danny eventually embraces his powers to protect his town from various ghosts with evil intentions. Meanwhile, he balances his superpower life with the daily trials and tribulations of being a teenager with a lot of work to do.

TikTok user and artist Zachary Morawiec recently shared a revamped version of the Nickelodeon show’s iconic intro. Morawiec’s page is filled with innovative mash-ups and recreations inspired by classic TV shows and animated characters. The artist transformed the original characters in 3D versions of themselves with lots of CGI animations, very different from the original 2D. The video caught Hartman’s attention on TikTok, who couldn’t help but support the creative remake. “I love to see him in this style“, he wrote on his TikTok duo.”Very cool!“He was also seen grooving on the show’s catchy rap theme song, which he wrote the lyrics for. Hartman captioned his duet post saying,”ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!“Check out the post which was also shared by Morawiec on his Twitter account below:

Danny Phantom has remained beloved by fans despite its finale aired over a decade ago. There was even an online petition circulating calling on Nickelodeon to green light a remake. Considering Nickelodeon’s recent push to relaunch its old shows for the Paramount + streaming app, it doesn’t seem too much of a stretch that Danny Phantom would make a comeback. My godfathers are magic, also created by Hartman, gets a live reboot as is iCarlySo there is clearly a market for fans looking for a heavy dose of nostalgia with a modern twist.

The fan intro remake also opens up the option to update the animation for a reboot. While this is a little shocking at first for those who have watched the original 2D version of the 2000s show, it is definitely up to date with current animated series and movies. Only time will tell if Nickelodeon decides to go along with the fans’ wishes and make a Danny Phantom to restart.
