arthur is coming to an end after 25 seasons on the air, and PBS has big plans to ship the series. Next month, a special marathon will precede four new episodes and fans will get a glimpse into the future of the characters featured on the show.
The end of the series does not mean the end of arthur. Fans will be seeing the character and his friends on other platforms for years to come. PBS revealed more about the plans for the series finale in a press release.
“PBS KIDS and GBH Kids announced today that ARTHUR, the iconic Peabody and Emmy Award® series based on the bestselling books by Marc Brown, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special marathon, featuring four new episodes, culminating in a highly anticipated ending that gives a glimpse of what’s to come. has in store for the future of these beloved characters. The marathon will feature more than 250 back-to-back episodes and movie specials on the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and live, as well as the PBS KIDS YouTube channel from February 16, 9:00 a.m. EST through February 21, 5:00 p.m. EST. The four new episodes will air on PBS stations (check local listings) and stream for free on PBS KIDS on February 21, wrapping up the show’s 25th and final television season.
New content from ARTHUR will continue to roll out in 2022 and beyond, including a podcast, video shorts that tackle timely and compelling topics, and digital games. All 25 seasons of ARTHUR (over 250 episodes) will continue to be available on PBS KIDS.

ARTHUR is the longest-running animated children’s series on television and is known for teaching kindness, empathy, and inclusion through everyday adventures and many groundbreaking moments. In the new episodes, Arthur and his friends solve a mystery, see a silent film, find out what it’s like to be a journalist, learn how to help a grieving friend, go on a family vacation and get a glimpse of their future. thanks to a mysterious game of divination.

Marc Brown, the author of the “Arthur Adventure” book series, which has sold over 65 million copies in the United States alone, is also releasing a new book, “Believe in Yourself: what we learned from Arthur” (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers), January 25, 2022.
“It’s amazing that what started out as a simple story for my son has finally turned into over a hundred books and a collaboration with GBH and PBS KIDS that will last 25 years,” said Marc Brown, creator and author of ARTHUR. “Now more than ever, the last line of my first book, Arthur’s Nose, rings true – ‘Arthur is much more than his nose’.”
Since its creation, ARTHUR covered many important and timely topics. In 2020, GBH Kids created a series of short digital videos to give parents and families tools to talk about the news – including the importance of handwashing and mask-wearing; talking about racism; and encourage everyone to participate in the elections. Over the next few years, the team will produce additional new short films to address current topics that families will face as well as the daily adventures of Elwood City.
ARTHUR will also create new content for other platforms. GBH Kids will partner with Gen-Z Media for a new podcast, which will leverage by ARTHUR unrivaled library of stories, favorite characters and heartfelt moments that resonated strongly with audiences to create engaging audio content that reaches existing fans, as well as helping introduce a new generation to the series and some of its storylines classics. This podcast will be available on podcast streaming platforms and pbskids.org.
New interactive ARTHUR the games will also launch on pbskids.org and the PBS KIDS Games app.
