The process of creating designs for movies takes an incredibly long time for animators. What a lot of people might not realize is that a 60-90 second clip of an animated movie can actually take up to six weeks for an animator. Making a long animated film is a colossal task.

Considering the time that the animation process takes, it’s no wonder that the majority of animated films are short. Since Western animated films are often marketed to children, the short lengths can also keep children and adults from fidgeting and help them stay focused.

The total running time of The Lord of the Rings is 132 minutes. The movie actually worked out pretty well and John Hurt even voiced the character of Aragorn. However, no sequel has been made and the film actually ends with the Siege of Helm’s Deep.

9 Fantasia is Disney’s longest-running animated film – 126 minutes

Fancy is the longest-running animated film produced by Disney. It is also one of Disney’s oldest animated films since it was released in 1940. Fantasia runs for just over two hours. Fantasy 2000, Following Fancy, was released in 1999 by Walt Disney’s nephew.

The film is primarily made up of animated segments, combining stories with classical music provided by the Philadelphia Orchestra. Fancy is a critically acclaimed film and was the first commercial film to be broadcast in stereo sound with reproduction via a technology known as Fantasound. During its 80 years, it became one of the highest grossing films in the United States.

8 Long-awaited sequel: Incredibles 2 – 126 minutes

The long-awaited sequel to 2004 Incredibles the film arrived in theaters 14 years later. Incredibles 2 takes place immediately after the first movie ends, which is surprising considering how much real time has passed since. The run time is 126 minutes.

The main dubbing cast returned for the sequel with the exception of Spencer Fox, who voiced Dash in the first film. That’s because director Brad Bird wanted Dash to sound like a 10 year old. Incredibles 2 was another box office success and was even nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe.

7 The long drive – 117 minutes

Disney and Pixar have teamed up to produce and release Cars in 2006. It would be Paul Newman’s last acting role as the voice of Doc Hudson. The official run time of Cars is 117 minutes. The film was nominated for two Oscars but lost to Happy feet. Cars was ultimately a success given that two more sequels were released in 2011 and 2017.

Here, viewers are first introduced to the overpowered Parr family whose abilities set them apart from their suburban neighbors, even though they may not yet know the powers of their baby Jack-Jack. They live in Metroville and are forced to live in secret as part of the superhero relocation program after the superheroes are banned.

Ralph breaks the internet is the sequel to the 2012 film Destroy it Ralph. The film was released in 2018 by Disney. Six years after the franchise’s first film, Ralph and Vanellope are still the best buds. This movie features a variety of cameos ranging from Disney Princesses to Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear from Toy story.

Its official autonomy is 112 minutes. Ralph breaks the the Internet received positive reviews. This was even nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature but lost to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Ratatouille has gained immense popularity more than 13 years after its initial release on TikTok. The creators of TikTok and famous actors like Wayne Brady have come together to release a Ratatouille musical in 2020 and raised $ 2 million for The Actors Fund.

Idris Elba even makes a cameo as Bogo, the African Buffalo Police Chief. Its official autonomy is 108 minutes. A film that addresses social problems and inequalities, Zootopia won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, a Golden Globe, a Critic’s Choice Movie Award and an Annie Award.

2 Cars 2 had mixed reviews – 106 minutes

Miguel later finds himself trapped in the Land of the Dead, but comes out after meeting his great-great-grandparents.

coco has one of the most heartbreaking endings in all Western animation. It won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Remember Me”. The official length of the film is 105 minutes.
